3D animation advert

Ive not really updated the blogger for this piece of work so its all going in this one post. My initial idea for this brief was to make a break dancing mobile phone to advertise a phone network. however after a few initial designs and models i decided on advertising my local milkshake joint "Shake Out"

The idea of a dancing milkshake seemed plausible so i set about making it happen. Used the basic cone shape to make the cup. modeled the legs using a box and extruding and beveling the parts i needed. then applied a turbo smooth to make it all nice and rounded.

The straw was made using a hose and just bending it around. The lid was a circle spine that was then extruded and beveled about. looks pretty convincing i thought.
Then came the hard part of rigging the damn thing. After a lot of trial and error i ended up with a spine down the middle and bones in the arms and legs. separate bones for hands and fingers. theses were moved by wrist controllers and a waist controller.

now for texturing, i made a quick texture from a photograph i had of one of the shake out cups and with a little bit of photoshop magic it worked. the straw was just red and white stripes made in photoshop too.
